Ooops. I'm Not Dead
August 23, 2005

I’m still alive. Honestly. Got a friendly e-mail nudging me to make sure I was still kicking. I am.

Sadly, it’s been quite boring really. My sister and her fiance were out of town so I had the apartment to myself. Which means I did… nothing really. I had an extended weekend since my days off are changing. So I had Sat, Sun and Mon off.

However, now I have a coworker during my shift. I’m so used to working on my own, I forgot what human interaction was. I don’t like it. The guy is nice and all, but it almost feels like someone is walking into my turf. I’m used to doing everything and sort of feel like he’s only going to get in the way.

My Toku Addiction
July 25, 2005

I guess it’s time to introduce another one of my addictions. This one may require some explaining as not many people will ‘get’ it.

I’m a big big fan of the japanese television shows called Tokushu Satsuei (特殊撮影) — almost always cut down to just Tokusatsu (特撮) – and usually shortened all the way down to Toku for ease of use. It is Japanese for “special photography.” These TV shows tend to be over the top fantasy with many special effects. Only recently has these special effects consisted of computer generated effects, but it is still mostly camera trick type effects.

Sick
July 22, 2005

Although I still have a tickle in my throat, I’m finally beating down this sickness that has had me under the weather since Friday afternoon. Nasty stuff.

So, it’s Friday – after today I get a nice long 3 day weekend that I wasn’t expecting. Someone here at work request for 2 days off and my boss-lady-person mistakenly put one of those days as me. When I found out that I had a PTO day and didn’t request one, I asked her whats up? She relised her error and was going to fix it, but decided she didn’t want to have to deal with all the paper work, so she told me I was going to have that day off. She didn’t have to tell me twice!! My job is great because our personal time off (PTO) is paid. So aside from 80 hours of vacation time (2 weeks) we also get over 100 hours of paid time off. Woohoo.

No Life
July 14, 2005

As I read through other peoples blogs and websites, I noticed that they tend to write almost novel sized entries. That they can go on about various things for quite some time and never repeat what they’ve previously said AND they can do this almost daily.

I have a hard time coming up with a single paragraph.

  • I can’t really do much commenting on work as I work midnights, I’m the only one there, and nothing happens the entire 8 hours I’m there.
  • Since moving to Texas, except for those I work with, I haven’t met anyone and/or gone out to do anything. I’ve lived in Garland for a year now and only just last month noticed I lived one block away from the Richardson Square Mall…
  • I’m introverted. Very. I can meet new people no problem when it comes to over the internet, it’s the face-to-face that gets me bad. I stumble on my words, and just generally make myself look like a dork.
  • I don’t enjoy doing what many people around my age like to do. Party, clubs, dancing… things I just don’t like to do. I don’t even understand the appeal of said activities.
  • I feel distant from my religion. I am a Christian, but I haven’t attended a church in a long time. It just seems to me that every church I’ve gone to has been more of a competition of who’s best dressed or who’s more holier.
  • I could talk about what I’m interested in, but I think that most of it would be frighteningly boring. I enjoy weather – and I track hurricanes, games such as Final Fantasy XI or old Super Nintendo classics, and I am learning Japanese right now.

But, lets see how this works out… talking about such things.

Brain Rot
June 23, 2005

I’ve been playing games now for almost 20 years. Games back then were bleeps and bloops, bright flashy colors, and a simple concept – usually without end or resolution. Just as new hardware has pushed the envelope for graphics and gaming style, so has the content of these games.

I remember the shock of seeing Mortal Kombat in the arcades for the first time. Nothing up to that point had been so blatantly violent. Of course as a 12-year-old, I was drawn to it as a moth to a flame.

Final Fantasy III
June 23, 2005

I was just thinking back to Christmas ‘94. I had just turned 14 a few months earlier, but wasn’t feeling much older. Under the christmas tree was presents and more presents. One of them looked suspiciously like a Super Nintendo game. With much joy I unwrapped Final Fantasy III.

Maybe I was (am) a nerd like that. But there was nothing better in life than getting the game you wanted so bad that you just couldn’t wait. Especially when that game is as good as you hope it would be.

PSO Blue Burst Out of Beta
June 19, 2005

PSO:BB is now out of Beta. ••yeah••

And and and, the game will continue to be free to download. US$8.99 a month after the trial period. PSOBB.com if you want to try it out.

I play as Astinus, usually on 03:Coeus:02-04.

There is no direct way to message people in game unless you’re on their “friend list” guild card system. Therefore, if you do try the game out, and want to play along with me (level difference doesn’t effect EXP ^_^), send me a message either by Yahoo! IM (chromium_kefka), or e-mail me.

Rugby: When Will the US Wake Up to this Sport?
May 29, 2005

One of the great things I find about Rugby is that it is non-stop action, beginning to end. In Football, you have game stopage after every play, durring which the 40 second play clock is ticking away. This is how a 60 minute football game ends up being 3 hours long. Whereas Rugby this doesn’t happen.

Once you are used to watching this sport, it becomes not only easy to follow, but hard to stop watching in my opinion. It’s fast pace and nimble ball handling leads to some exciting plays.

Opened Hard Mode
May 21, 2005

Yeah! Only 13 hours after they opened Hard Mode in PSO:BB, I got it opened!

Now when I hit the first level solo with my lv28, instead of one hit kills, I find myself in trouble. I forgot just how hard hard mode is.
