Web 1.0 was the best Web.
Yes, some people still blog! I have a collection of random things I’ve written about, big and small, since 2001.
I upgraded the software running this site. (From WordPress 1.5 to WordPress 2.0)
I do not believe anything serious has changed but some backend things.
Last Saturday, I was driving my sister to work when we got talking about the Christmas time of the year. We started talking about saying “Merry Christmas” versus “Happy Holidays” and if anyone truly found it offensive. I then mentioned how would you know to say something else, like Happy Kawanza, or Happy Chanukah… or any other various beliefs. What about the pegans and their celebration of yule? What about those who have no celebration. You must include them! By all that is good and holy in this world, you can not exclude anyone for fear of offending them.
Oh man, I want one! Radio station was giving them away today, but no luck
There is no way I will be able to afford one of these for quite sometime. ☆sigh☆
I finally took the money to grab an extra 512MB of RAM for my PC. Since I’m having video card problems with my Mac, I want to be able to play my World of Warcraft. Moving my PC from 256MB to 768MB will make my video game play like a video game and not a slide show. ^_^
Ellen Williams Hancock, security worker at the Oaks of Collin Creek, was a woman I would talk to often as I would walk home from work when I lived there. At that time, I worked evenings so I would end up walking home around 9 or 10 at night. She would be in her gaurd station and I would talk a little with her as I was headed home.
So, it comes as a complete shock to me to hear that she was murdered by her son. Completely don’t understand that. She was very nice, very kind. She’d let TJ (sisters fiance) in even though he wasn’t an actual resident.
Ahh, the joy of turkey, turkey, and more turkey. Yum.
I’m pretty sure I’ll be celebrating it a little early this year because I’m working 16 hours on Thanksgiving. (I told them I would work it, so others can be home with family)
I’ve done the same thing for Christmas, working 16 hours so others can do what they do. I have only two family members here in Texas (mom and sister) and we haven’t really done anything for holidays since moving down here.
Tropical Storm Gamma forms near the coast of Belize. This is the 24th (!!??) named storm of this season. If I didn’t know any better, I would think talking about storm number 24, you’d be talking about the Pacific ocean, which gets a lot more tropical systems than the Atlantic ever does.
I wake up this morning to find it dark and rainny… it’s about time! We’ve needed this rain for such a long time. (poor trick or treaters if it lasts into the evening.) It’s funny though, I think my cats have forgotten what a thunderstorm sounds like. Both of them are looking out the windows with a bit of unease plastered on their face.
Nothing else has really been going on. I had two movies sent to me through Netflix: Fever Pitch, and The Notebook. hmmm…. I think on my next blog I may write about some excellent, but off the beaten path, movies I’ve seen from Netflix. They’re mostly international movies, but very excellent.
I have so many pictures sitting around on various folders on both of my computers, I wanted a better way to situate them. Therefore, I created a image gallery to hold them all. If you would like to see them, they’re at http://www.astinus.net/pictures/ (Dead Link) . Can’t claim they’re too exciting, they’re just home/travel photos. I wanted them somewhere safe. I’m nowhere near having all of them up. I only currently have my Germany pictures and a handful from Michigan.
