Matthew kept slightly east of yesterday’s predictions. This has kept damage a bit lighter than anticipated. This was literally a game of mere miles.
The National Hurricane Center website is down. I imagine there are so many people trying to view the 11pm update that their web server has taken a giant dump.

I’ve always considered myself a bit of an amateur meteorologist with a keen interest in the tropics. I have been watching and studying the cyclones of the world for a good portion of my 36 years of life. I have never seen anything quite like Hurricane Matthew: a major hurricane scraping the entire southeastern coast. Not only this, but add on top of that the forecast track that has it looping back around for another go - albeit weakened as a tropical storm. There is still time for unexpected strengthening as well.

When a hurricane is forecast to take a track roughly parallel to a coastline, as Matthew is forecast to do from Florida through South Carolina, it becomes very difficult to specify impacts at any one location. For example, only a small deviation of the track to the left of the NHC forecast could bring the core of a major hurricane onshore within the hurricane warning area in Florida.
However, a small deviation to the right could keep the hurricane-force winds offshore. Similarly large variations in impacts are possible in the hurricane watch area in northern Florida and Georgia.

Aurora got under foot while I was putting away dishes. I was able to shift my weight and fall into the side of the open dishwasher, knocking her over with my legs, instead of hitting her with all of my 300 pounds. It was a little terrifying.

Ryker recognizes about a quarter of the alphabet. You can show him a letter and ask him what it is, and he’ll answer. He confuses E and F, C and U, and a few others that he knows, but he knows them. He’s not even two yet.
I am definitely impressed with this Rugby and quite a few people in the Rugby Reddit are saying the same.
Head of the league just said they hope to expand this league to 10 teams next year.
Denver wins the inaugural PRO Rugby match against Ohio in overtime: 16-13. Ohio had one converted try and two penalty goals and Denver had two unconverted tries and two penalty goals including the one to clinch the victory.
First Professional Rugby match has come to the end of regulation time in a 13-13 tie after Denver misses at a drop kick goal attempt. Ohio and Denver will now face sudden death for the first victory.
Ryker has come clean and told me that he was the one that asked for the snow.
I get the zig-zag arch of light first. It starts off small and in the center of my vision, then it spreads slowly to the way it looks in this video. However, mine have a zig-zag pattern in the middle of it - it doesn’t look like electricity as it does in this video. It also moves very slowly - it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to move from the center to the outer edges.
Once it is along the outer edge, it covers half of my vision (usually the right side). Then, I get the tunnel vision.
After this, everything is foggy and then a large screwdriver is stabbed into my skull.
Good times.
They say that by 6 months your child has doubled their birth weight.
