Life Lost From Idiocy
April 19, 2006

As I mentioned previously, a friend from Final Fantasy XI died. I now have discovered exactly what had happened and it fills me with an emotion I rarely ever feel. Pure rage. The kind that makes everything tinted red…

She was driving home from work, not sure on the date but it was before March 28th… when she was struck by a drunk driver. Her car caught fire, but she was pulled from the vehicle and taken to the hospital where she was doing very well, except for being burnt on most of the left side of her body.

RIP Isa

I never met her in person, I didn’t know her real name… I only knew her as Isa, wacky crazy fellow Tarutaru who enjoyed blowing things up with her black mage spells.

I found out today that, sometime last week, she died. I don’t know the circumstances of her death, but I do know that she was in the military, though I’m unsure if she was stationed anywhere. Since having left playing Final Fantasy XI almost a year ago, I had fallen out of contact with her.

Unamed Subtropical Storm
April 14, 2006

I redesigned my 2005 hurricane season page to something a little more easier to manage. Included is the now discovered Unamed Subtropical Storm that formed October 4th. It wasn’t until re-evaluation of the seasons data did they notice this storm has poped up for about 24 hours.

An interesting note is this would’ve been named Subtropical Storm Tammy had it been noticed during the season, which would’ve pushed the other named storms down the list by one. Hurricane Wilma which now holds the record as being the strongest hurricane ever in the Atlantic and the name has, therefore, been retired. If they would have caught this unamed storm during the year, Wilma would’ve been named Hurricane Alpha which would’ve brought up an interesting topic. Can, and how, do you retire a name off of the back-up list? 2005 was the first time ever that we had to use the back up naming convention, as no previous season has had enough storms to wear out the name list.

CPR and Viruses
April 14, 2006

On Monday I passed (perfect score ^_^) CPR and defibrillator training. Therefore, if you’re going to go into cardiac arrest, do so near me!

My computer is nearly clean of crap it got infected at some point in the past few days. Not sure who when or why it happened, but I’ve got all but a few stray viruses, trojans and other evil-dooers cleaned up.

Oh, Jen Austin has written and interesting article today in the “Dallas Voice”. You can read it at the Dallas Voice Website.

After the Flood
March 28, 2006

Yesterday they finally delivered and installed the padding to go under our carpet. Now things are as good as new.

However, the manager came down when this was going on and saw our cats. Ooops, we forgot to tell them we had any. Now we have to pay a $600 pet deposit. $600! Sounds insane to me, my two little cats… couldn’t even possibly do $600 worth of damage.

With this finally put behind me, I’m now looking torwards a planned trip to Michigan. Most likely sometime in mid- to late-August. My Grandmother will be going up from Virginia and staying up there for a few months so I will coincide my trip to be in that time-frame. I also have to make sure my dad has ample time to prepair because it takes a long time to get vacation approved where he works, and the sooner he knows the better.

Oblivion and in House Swimming
March 21, 2006

Today I picked up ‘The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion” today. A follow up to the highly praised ‘Morrowind.’ Oblivion is a open-ended role playing game where you could take a year or more to fully explore the entire available area. Oh, and it’s very pretty, would you expect less with it being on the 360?

I am about 7 hours into the game, which is not very much by any means. (There are some people who are playing Morrowind still today, and it was released in May 2002.)

360 Time
March 20, 2006

TJ got a XBox 360! So I’ll be over in his and Holli’s room a lot playing my share of XBox goodness. The thing is sweet. I’m blown away by just how much you can do with it without a game in the drive. But oh boy! Slide a game into this beauty… the graphics are amazing, made even more so by the fact that within the last two months TJ and I have both picked up High-Def TV’s.

Sick
March 10, 2006

Ohh not feeling very well. I missed work Sunday morning, and my normal days off Monday and Tuesday. I made it back to work last night, but I only sat/half-reclined most of the night in the office and in the vehicle. Not feeling well at all.

It also doesn’t help that my parents devorce hit a whole new level this past week and I feel myself being drawn into the middle of it. Unlike most people however, I think I’m in the rare situation where I do want them devorced. They’re always always always fighting. I don’t recall a time in my life when they were not.

Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter

Ooow, I stayed up way to late. Sharon is going to kill me! (I got to lv41 today, don’t kill me!)

Picture below may be clicked to see full sized.

I watched on NASA TV them getting the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter into position for orbit around Mars. This is the third orbiter we have in orbit around Mars, but what makes this one more special is how high of resolution the camera is. We’re going to be seeing rocks as small as 1 meter (roughly 1 yard) in width. Except for the pictures from the two rovers we have on the surface, this is the closest we’ve seen of the surface.

Not Much to Say
March 9, 2006

It’s been a pretty uneventful week or so. Not much going on. I’ve decided to fire up my old 1up.com blog for gaming related stuff I do, and use MySpace.com for everything else. Then I’ll post everything here.

Otherwise, not much else is really going on.
