Amazingly, the remains of Tropical Storm Claudette could not bring much of any of its rain on shore when the circulation made landfall. Flooding will not be an issue. — Bill became the seasons first hurricane and currently has winds of 90 mph gusting to 115 mph.

Tropical Storm Claudette will make landfall shortly. Its center is skirting along the coast at the moment. (Common with weak landfalling storms). —- Tropical Storm Warnings and Inland Tropical Storm Wind Warnings are in effect for the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama. — Flood Advisories are up as well, some locations could get nearly a foot of rain.

Tropical Storm Claudette’s center of circulation is a scant 50 or so miles off shore. Landfall within 3~ish hours.

National Hurricane Center has upgraded TD4 to Tropical Storm Claudette. Sustained winds of 40 mph. Landfall expected this evening along the Florida panhandle. Tropical Storm warnings remain in effect. — The biggest cause for concern with this system is not the winds but rain. Tropical Storms have a bad habit of dumping tons of rain in a short period of time.

The US Navy is now reporting we do have a tropical cyclone in the gulf. The 5AM National Hurricane Center will indeed upgrade it to Tropical Depression Four.

Another big storm moving off of Africa. TS Ana may go south of Florida and enter the Gulf (not good). TS Bill may impact Florida 7 days from now (still to far out to predict). Computer models predict storm coming off of Africa will become Claudette.

National Hurricane Center WILL upgrade Tropical Depression 3 to Tropical Storm Bill at 5pm EDT.

Tropical Depression Two is nearly dead. Dry air and wind shear has killed all but some light rain showers with it. There is still a small chance of development with this system. … However … A large circulation of storms just off the coast of Africa has been classified as Investigation Area 90L. This storm system seems to be shaping up to develop. This pattern is typical of the Tropical Atlantic in early August.

Tropical Depression Two has formed in the Atlantic as I had anticipated. It should be upgraded to Tropical Storm Ana within the next day or two.
