Web 1.0 was the best Web.
I redesigned my 2005 hurricane season page to something a little more easier to manage. Included is the now discovered Unamed Subtropical Storm that formed October 4th. It wasn’t until re-evaluation of the seasons data did they notice this storm has poped up for about 24 hours.
An interesting note is this would’ve been named Subtropical Storm Tammy had it been noticed during the season, which would’ve pushed the other named storms down the list by one. Hurricane Wilma which now holds the record as being the strongest hurricane ever in the Atlantic and the name has, therefore, been retired. If they would have caught this unamed storm during the year, Wilma would’ve been named Hurricane Alpha which would’ve brought up an interesting topic. Can, and how, do you retire a name off of the back-up list? 2005 was the first time ever that we had to use the back up naming convention, as no previous season has had enough storms to wear out the name list.
The difference between a Tropical Storm and a Subtropical Storm is: a tropical storm gets its strength from the warm water of the ocean, a subtropical storm gets its strength from the change in temperature in and around the storm.
