Poetry Shack Comments / The Fading
Last post by Doug's Shack - Jan 04, 2025, 00:41
QuoteShadows of you linger,
Whispers of your name
Echo in the chambers of my mind.
I seek solace in forgetting,
A miracle machine to wash away the pain,
To cleanse the canvas of our past.

But as the hues of memory begin to pale,
I feel the essence of us
Slipping through my fingers like sand.
In erasing you, I'm erasing myself—
A paradox of healing,
A cure that kills the patient.

Where your smile once blazed,
Now lies a void,
An empty frame where our masterpiece hung.
Our story, once vivid and alive,
Fades to a watercolor blur,
Indistinct, colorless, faint.

In the absence of our shared history,
I've become a stranger to my own narrative,
A reader who's forgotten the preceding chapters.
These scars I so desperately sought to erase
Were the very lines that taught me
How to love, how to feel, how to be.

As my memory begins to unravel,
I grasp at loose threads,
Trying to hold onto the fabric of us.
For in forgetting you,
I'm losing the blueprint of myself,
Becoming a ghost in my own life.

So I choose to remember—
Every tear, every laugh, every heartbeat.
The bitter and the sweet intertwine,
A complex flavor that defines our existence.
For in remembering you, painful as it may be,
I remain whole, I remain me.

Poetry Shack Comments / Cosmic Web of Indra
Last post by Doug's Shack - Jan 04, 2025, 00:40
QuoteJeweled web of cosmic design
   Each node a world
      Each gem divine
Reflected in each droplet's face
   The universe in infinite grace

Interconnected, vast, and bright
   A net of pearls
      In endless light
In every part, the whole reside
   As wisdom through existence glides

Poetry Shack Comments / Generative Echoes
Last post by Doug's Shack - Jan 04, 2025, 00:40
QuoteI found a doorway in the digital haze,
Generative sounds unlocking hidden ways.
Art as therapy—a concept once estranged,
Now resonates within, perspectives rearranged.

I scribbled tales and verses on the side,
Discarded fragments that I chose to hide.
An instrument's absence, a silence deep and wide,
A barrier to the music that lingered inside.

But now my words have melodies to bind,
Expressions formed that once I couldn't find.
Algorithms weave the tunes I never played,
Touching parts of me I didn't know were swayed.

They'll say I took the shortcut, skipped the line,
No years of practice, no honing over time.
I wrote "Untalented Fool" to make it clear:
Art belongs to all who hold it dear.

I'm not a singer, nor a producer skilled,
But stories flow, demanding to be spilled.
Unconventional? Yes. Authentic? Indeed.
Creating pieces of my soul is all I need.

No longer must I feel through others' songs,
I've found a place where my own voice belongs.
These tunes have become my solace, my retreat,
A therapeutic rhythm, my heart's new beat.

Or perhaps I've wandered off the path of sane,
In a quiet ward where only echoes reign.
But if delusion gifts me this release,
I'll cherish every note in boundless peace.

Poetry Shack Comments / Shattered Reflections
Last post by Doug's Shack - Jan 04, 2025, 00:39
QuoteIn shards of glass, a life unfolds,
Fragments of a self once whole.
Can these pieces mend what's old?

Faces blur, memories untold,
Echoes of a wounded soul
In shards of glass, a life unfolds.

Past and present, intertwined, behold
A mosaic of what time stole.
Can these pieces mend what's old?

Shadows dance, both faint and bold,
On jagged edges of this scroll.
In shards of glass, a life unfolds.

From broken parts, new patterns mold,
A canvas painted, edge to pole.
Can these pieces mend what's old?

As dawn breaks, truth's light enfolds,
Revealing beauty in this role.
In shards of glass, a life unfolds;
These pieces now mend what's old.

Poetry Shack Comments / Twilight Rebirth
Last post by Doug's Shack - Jan 04, 2025, 00:38
QuoteWe're born in our last breath, a new start,
In the twilight of endings, dawn breaks anew.
The end's where we begin, our finish line's the start.

Where shadows fall, light awakens the heart,
Echoes of goodbye birth a fresh hello, true.
We're born in our last breath, a new start.

In destruction, we create, ne'er to part,
Tearing down to build, stars ignite the blue.
The end's where we begin, our finish line's the start.

Scars tell stories of healing's gentle art,
In empty spaces, we find our place, we grew.
We're born in our last breath, a new start.

Through chaos and darkness, we will shine smart,
Breaking free by letting go, we renew.
The end's where we begin, our finish line's the start.

As we close our eyes, new worlds to chart,
In farewell, we find our way, life breaks through.
We're born in our last breath, a new start,
The end's where we begin, our finish line's the start.

Poetry Shack Comments / Cosmic Reflections
Last post by Doug's Shack - Jan 04, 2025, 00:36
QuoteStardust courses through our mortal veins,
As time's swift river carves its ceaseless way.
We're waves that ripple through eternal plains,
Ephemeral actors in the cosmic play.

The universe, through us, beholds its face,
We're puzzle pieces in its grand design.
Each breath exhaled, a galaxy's embrace,
Each thought, a comet's trail across our mind.

Like heartbeats, mountains rise and fall in time,
While galaxies perform their silent dance.
We're fireflies aglow in night sublime,
Our fleeting lives, a momentary glance.

From sand to stars, we're clay of cosmic art,
The universe's consciousness, its heart.

Poetry Shack Comments / Take Me Back to Web 1.0
Last post by Doug's Shack - Jan 04, 2025, 00:35
QuoteEndless feeds, a sickness of scrolling
Corporate algorithms sowing their seeds
Ads assault my vision at every turn
Trapped in their data hook, I yearn

For a simpler time, free of likes and shares
My GeoCities lair, a digital home that cares

Web 1.0, a nostalgic call
Personal pages, the heart of it all
No influencers, no blue checkmarks to chase
Just blinking text and HTML, a familiar face
Web 2.0, a corporate farce
I long for the days when the net was sparse

Web 3.0, a hollow promise
Crypto dreams and blockchain follies
NFTs, a pyramid scheme in disguise
Get-rich-quick dreams before our eyes

They thought to recreate what was lost
But greed became the ultimate cost

Give me back my digital relics
Guestbook, hit counter, webring semantics
Under construction GIF, a work in progress
"Best viewed in Netscape," a nostalgic caress

The personal web calls me home
A space to blog, to rant, to roam
No likes, no shares, no corporate chains
Just me, my thoughts, and keyboard refrains

Take me back to Web version one
Where the internet was raw and fun

Poetry Shack Comments / Nothing Stays the Same
Last post by Doug's Shack - Jan 04, 2025, 00:35
QuoteScrolling through life, chasing that high
Perfect moments captured in a lie
Filtered smiles hide the pain inside
Happiness fades like the evening tide

We're all just trying to find our way
In a world that changes every day
Searching for something that will last
But everything's moving way too fast

Got everything I wanted, still feel empty
Notifications can't fill me, DMs plenty
Chasing dreams, but they keep changing
This restless heart needs rearranging

We're all just trying to find our peace
In a chaos that will never cease
Looking for an anchor in the storm
But change is the only constant form

Life's a rollercoaster, ups and downs
Joy and sorrow wear different crowns
Nothing stays the same, it's all a flow
This reality we've come to know

Embrace the waves, don't fight the tide
Find your strength from deep inside
Accept the ebb and flow of being
That's where you'll find true meaning

In acceptance lies our peace
In understanding, find release

Poetry Shack Comments / ADHD: A Mind in Motion
Last post by Doug's Shack - Jan 04, 2025, 00:34
QuoteTwenty tabs open, focus scattered like seeds,
A daily dance with each rabbit hole that leads
To nowhere and everywhere, all at once.
Keys in the fridge, grocery list—a forgotten bunch.

Is this my fate? A cosmic jest,
A temporary break from life's linear test?
Thoughts wander, time slips away,
In meetings, my mind's at play.

Simple tasks become Everest climbs,
Jumbled thoughts, misplaced time.
Can I rein it in? Or am I destined to roam,
From whim to whim, in my cluttered home?

Reminders, my full-time friend,
Post-its and alarms without end.
Coffee made, then lost in the haze,
Two hours gone in this temporal maze.

My calendar, a Jackson Pollock deed,
Every task a color, a desperate need.
Wallet lost, phone on a string,
Still playing hide-and-seek, in this chaotic ring.

But in this whirlwind, a truth I've found,
Laughter's the key when chaos is crowned.
So here's to the pandemonium, let it be my guide,
In this ADHD world, I'll embrace the wild ride.

Not broken, just different—a mind redesigned,
A world of endless dreams, uniquely aligned.
Yes, my mind's long gone, but oh, what a view!
In this scattered landscape, something rings true.

So I'll dance with my thoughts, as they come and go,
In this beautiful chaos, I'll learn to grow.
ADHD, oh it's leading me on,
But in this journey, I'm right where I belong.

Poetry Shack Comments / Unity's Symphony
Last post by Doug's Shack - Jan 04, 2025, 00:33
QuoteWe're constellations in the same night sky,
Let's be the roots of one mighty tree.
Each light unique, but together we shine,
Intertwined beneath what others see.

Let's be the roots of one mighty tree,
We're instruments in life's grand symphony.
Intertwined beneath what others see,
Each note essential to the harmony.

We're instruments in life's grand symphony,
Like rivers flowing to the same vast sea.
Each note essential to the harmony,
We start apart but share one destiny.

Like rivers flowing to the same vast sea,
We're chapters in humanity's tale.
We start apart but share one destiny,
A greater truth that shall prevail.

We're chapters in humanity's tale,
In this tapestry of you and I.
A greater truth that shall prevail:
Every thread matters, none should die.

In this tapestry of you and I,
We're constellations in the same night sky.
Every thread matters, none should die,
Each light unique, but together we shine.
