Tropical Storm Zeta
December 30, 2005
With only two days left in 2005, a new Tropical Storm has formed in the Atlantic Ocean… extending this hellish 2005 storm season one more storm. Tropical Storm Zeta formed at 25.0 N 36.9 W, about 1070 miles (1720 km) southwest of the Azores.
Had the storm formed just a few days later, this would’ve been Tropical Storm Alberto of the 2006 season. However Zeta is the 27th storm of the 2005 season, extending the record of the number of storms within a year.
Jan 1st Edit: Zeta is now only the second tropical system in the Atlantic to exist over two calendar years.
