Just woke up and was taking a look at a few surface maps and some ocean temperature maps. Rita is going to come across some warmer waters durring the next 12 hours, which can lead to some restrengthening. She’s also come out of her eye wall replacement cycle which means the weakening trend that cycle has caused will stop now.

The current projected path is now east of Huston, so they are spared a dirrect hit of the eye, but not out of the bullseye.

I currently see nothing to make me want to change my predictions from earlier other than: I believe our winds will be a bit lighter here in DFW because we’re going to be on the western portion of this system. The eastern side of the storm is always worse.

Notice in the new map I put above, the system stops moving almost above us. At the end, where it points for Tuesday is actually two dots stacked on top of each other. For at least 24 hours it will be just sitting there, dumping all of its rain on us.
